Our Hengrove nursery held a special school-ready night and invited all their school leaver's parents to come along and see what they can do to support their child's transition onto primary school. The room was set up with all the things that prmiary schools would like the children to be able to do before they start in September such as:

• Putting on their uniform
• Changing for PE
• Doing up their shoes
• Putting on their sun cream
• Cutting up their own food at meal times
• Being independent in dealing with their self care

Nursery staff also held demo sessions that the parents joined in with to gain knowledge on fun activities we do in nursery such as Dough Disco and Letters and Sounds. The room also was set up to show all the different ways you can encourage mark making and reading with children.

The parents then all had time to read Transition Reports that their child's Key Person had written.
