Where children have fun, learning

Exploring 'small world' play at Fort View

Fort View children this week have been enjoying some ‘small world’ imaginative fun! We set up some very cool Batman playdough which was a big hit. We encouraged imagination, communication and early writing skills as the children moulded and manipulated the dough with their fingers. We then set up a plain dough table with lots of strong smelling herbs and coffee beans. The children had a discussion about what was on the table, taking turns smelling and feeling all of it. Mint leaves were referred to as ‘cauliflower’ whilst others commented on how it smelt like toothpaste. Basil the children identified as smelling like pizza.
