Reminder: Apply for Your 15 or 30 Hours of Funded Childcare by 31 August for a September Start!

As September approaches, make sure your child is ready for a fantastic start with the right childcare support. If you're an eligible working parent in England, it's time to apply for your government-funded childcare hours to begin this autumn.

What You Need to Know:

- 15 Hours of Childcare per Week: Available for children aged 9 months to 3 years old, offering up to 15 hours per week over 38 weeks of the year.

- 30 Hours of Childcare per Week: Available for 3 and 4-year-olds, providing up to 30 hours per week over 38 weeks of the year.

Deadline Alert:

You must apply for your childcare code by 31 August to ensure your child can start benefiting from these hours on 1 September.

Steps to Apply:

1. Check Your Eligibility Criteria: Ensure you meet the requirements, such as working at least 16 hours per week at national minimum wage and earning under £100,000. The eligibility criteria also cover those on maternity, paternity, or adoption leave, as well as carers and some benefit recipients.

2. Gather Required Information: Before you apply, have your National Insurance number, UK birth certificate reference number (if applicable), and details of any government support, such as Universal Credit or Tax-Free Childcare.

3. Apply Online: Visit the Childcare Choices website to apply. Once your application is approved, you'll receive a code to give to your childcare provider.

4. Reconfirm Your Code: Remember to reconfirm your details on your childcare account every three months to continue receiving support. If you applied before June 1 June, you might need to reconfirm before September to keep your place secure.

Additional Tips:

- If you’re planning to return to work by the end of September, apply for your childcare code now to secure your place under the universal entitlement.
- If your child currently receives 15 hours for 2-year-olds and is turning 3, simply reconfirm your code on your account to switch to the 30 hours offer, starting the term after their 3rd birthday.

Please Note: This funding covers the standard funded hours, but you may still have additional costs for additional hours, meals, nappies, or trips.
