A Bristol nursery had a very special visit this week when Bristol City FC team coach Carlos Anton stopped by to say hello with the team's mascot Scrumpy the Robin.
Carlos, who is the team coach for Bristol City’s Under 18s A-Team, visited the brand new Mama Bear’s Day Nursery and Pre-School in Totterdown to speak to the children about the importance of healthy eating and exercise.
The visit came as part of a month celebrating ‘Special People’ during which our nurseries organise visits from inspirational local characters. Carlos was joined on the visit by Bristol City FC mascot Scrumpy the Robin who taught Mama Bear herself some football skills.
Catherine Denyer, manager of the Totterdown nursery said: “It was brilliant to have a visit from Carlos, who taught the children the importance of healthy eating and practised some simple exercises with them. The children were delighted and especially enjoyed kicking a ball around with Carlos in our outdoor play area. It was also great to see Scrumpy and Mama Bear getting involved and having a penalty shoot-out, which Mama Bear won of course!
“At Mama Bear’s we always try to come up with stimulating activities for the children to join in with, so that no two days are ever the same. The message about healthy eating and exercise is one we always reiterate so we’d like to say a big thank you to Carlos and the club for being so personable and engaging.”
Carlos said: “It was great to visit Mama Bear’s nursery and meet the children this week. It is so important to start early when learning about health and exercise and you never know, these children might be the next generation of Bristol City players!”
